On April 25, 2023, Taiwan Border Control announced the discovery of excessive sweeteners in two products from Mainland China and Thailand, respectively. The ‘MUGE CHICKEN SPICE‘ seasoning product exported from Mainland China was found to have 0.21 g/kg of cyclamate, a sweetener not allowed in that kind of product. Meanwhile, the ‘AROL NUA‘ fermented fish sauce product exported from Thailand was found to have 0.02 g/kg of saccharin, which is not allowed for fish sauce products. The products were rejected for importation.
