Canada: On February 2nd, 2023, Health Canada released document NOM/ADM-0194, which approved the expansion of the use of erythritol to granola and other ready-to-eat (RTE) breakfast cereals and coatings for RTE breakfast cereals.
Mainland China: As per the official notice from the State Administration for Market Regulation regarding the recent food safety inspections, the Maixiangsu sesame twists sold by Inner Mongolia Bailian Baisheng Jinchen International Business Management Co., Ltd. have been found to contain saccharin sodium levels exceeding the national safety standards. These snacks were produced by the renowned Maixiangsu Food Store situated in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia.
Singapore: The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) discovered Cyclamate (as Cyclamic Acid) in Chang Ling Peanut and instructed Yan Tai Yit Pte. Ltd., the importer, to initiate a recall of the affected product, which is currently in progress.

India: India, one of the world’s largest sugar producers along with Brazil, will possibly halt sugar exports due to concerns that lower production could affect domestic supplies, press reports.
Mainland China: According to the Provincial Food Safety Inspection Information for the 6th period of 2023 released on the official website of the Shanghai Market Supervision Administration, one batch of “Taikoo” premium granulated sugar was found to be unqualified due to excessive levels of reducing sugar.
Philippines: The Sugar Regulatory Administration of Department of Agriculture of the Philippines has released Sugar Order No.6, which permits the import of 440,000 MT of refined sugar, 200,000 MT of refined sugar will be available to domestic market while an additional 240,000 MT will be set aside as buffer stock.
